Recent Spanish graduate available for tutoring up to degree level.
As a qualified English foreign language teacher, I have always had a passion for teaching. I have recently graduated university with BA (Hons) Spanish and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, receiving the classification 2:1. As a tutor I love to make the sessions as interactive as possible where the student can engage in different fun, yet effective activities. This is because I believe in communicative teaching where the students take part as much as possible which is proven to aid the progress of the students language learning. Furthermore, my lesson plans will be personally tailored to suit the specific levels and needs of the learner in order to give the student the most effective lessons possible to reach their language learning goal.
Although I have no official tutoring experience, I think I will make a fantastic tutor as I have teaching experience from my university degree where I taught English as a foreign language to many different ages and different levels so I am aware of how to teach. Therefore, my experience of teaching and experience of graduating with a degree in the Spanish language go hand in hand to deliver excellent lessons to students.
I like to prepare lesson plans for my students so I can keep on track of what they are learning and the progress that they are making. For my lessons I like to structure them slightly different for different levels of learners. My two preferred methods of teaching are using the PPP and TTT methods. PPP stands for Presentation, Practice and Production. For beginners/lower intermediate learners I like to use the PPP method as you can present and teach a topic, practice the work together, then the student can produce work on what they have learned on their own. This method is great for students as it supports them in areas they may struggle. TTT stands for test, teach test. For upper intermediate/advanced learners I like to use the TTT method because I can tests the level of the learner through different activities, then I can teach any gaps of knowledge that they may have accordingly, then test the learner again with more activities at the end of the session to ensure they have understood. This works well for higher level learners as it gives them more independence while learning. I also like to sometimes include homework for students, relevant to what they have learnt to ensure that they have understood and also to improve their language skills.
